"uninhibited brilliance" - Tim shines in return to Cesare

Tim returned to the title role in Handel’s Giulio Cesare this summer for a sold out run at the Grange Festival in a new production by David Alden and conducted by Christian Curnyn. In his third appearance in this iconic role in recent seasons, Tim’s portrayal of the great Roman once again received widespread acclaim.

“it is difficult to imagine that the pair sung with more uninhibited brilliance than they do now. Countertenor Tim Mead’s Cesare is a man intoxicated by his own ability to love”
The Telegraph

“Tim Mead is a doughty Cesare, his burnished countertenor lending authority to a refreshingly serious-minded portrayal”
Guardian

“Tim Mead’s Cesare suitably spent much of the performance giddily enraptured. His honeyed countertenor displayed warmth and agility, Va tacito a classy bit of singing”
Bachtrack

“Tim Mead has warmth and a sublime middle voice”
The Times

“Mead shows great agility and charm as when he becomes enraptured by Cleopatra and has gorgeous vocal tone throughout”
Broadway World

“Caesar’s stable resolve is aptly characterised by Tim Mead’s purely focussed lines”
Opera Today

“Tim Mead is masterful as Cesare, the purity of his voice capable of raising the hairs on the back of your neck”
Southern Arts Review

“outstanding… Tim Mead was directed as a laid-back Caesar, more fascinated by love than war, and he sang his arias with forcefulness in both phrasing and decoration”
MusicOMH

“Tim Mead sang Cesare with an enviably full and even tone, making each of the arias a profoundly satisfying experience. He could swagger as well as the next man, but he was also giddily in love and made the opera’s emphasis on Cesare the man work well. “Va tacito” was superb… Mead held our attention fully… when the attack comes, he was all vivid vigour and bravura… a most satissfying all round performance”
